Most hire businesses make you find this out one email at a time. Here is the whole process in one page: what you pay, when you pay it, what happens at the handover, and what the rules are if the trip runs long.
1. Enquire with your dates
There is no online checkout. You send us the dates and roughly where you are heading, and we come back with a quote. During business hours that is usually inside the hour.
The route matters more than people expect. If you tell us you are heading somewhere with heavy tree cover or a deep gorge, we can flag it before you leave rather than after you have set up. It also tells us whether you should be looking at add-ons.
Worth mentioning in that first email:
- Your dates, including the flexible ones. The day rate drops at 25 days, so a trip sitting at 23 or 24 days is worth stretching.
- Whether you will have mains power at any point, which decides whether you need a solar blanket or battery charger on top of the kit.
- How many people and what they are doing. It changes nothing about the plan, which is unlimited either way, but it changes the advice.
2. Pay a 10% deposit to hold the dates
A 10% deposit on the total hire secures your dates. That is a percentage of the hire, not a flat fee, and it comes off the total rather than being an extra.
Payment is bank transfer or cash. The balance is due before or at pickup.
Minimum hire is seven days. Pricing runs:
| Hire length | Rate |
|---|---|
| 1 week (7 to 13 days) | $179/week, about $26/day |
| 2+ weeks (14 to 24 days) | $22/day |
| Long stay (25+ days) | $19/day |
One plan, unlimited data, no caps and no overage bills. No setup fee and no delivery charge, because there is no delivery.
3. Collect from Cloverdale
Pickup is in person from our Cloverdale depot, five minutes from Perth airport. We do not post or courier kits out, and we do not accept mail-back returns.
That is a deliberate constraint rather than a limitation we are apologising for. Every kit gets handed over by a person who has tested it, which is why we can tell you it works before you drive 1,000 km with it. Hire is for use within Western Australia.
At pickup you pay the $300 refundable bond and the balance of the hire, and you inspect the kit. Take the two minutes to do it properly:
- Check every foam cutout is filled. The full kit list is here, with photos.
- Look at both cable ends for bent pins or grit.
- Say something on the spot if anything is missing or marked. We do not offer a customer-facing warranty, so the handover inspection is the moment that matters.
We will run you through setup before you leave. It is genuinely about five minutes from opening the case to being online, and the most useful thing we can show you is how to run the obstruction check in the app.
4. While you are away
The kit is yours to use for the booked period, personal or business, streaming or a work camp. Unlimited means unlimited.
Two things worth knowing before you leave:
If it stops working, ring us the same day. Most faults are an obstruction, a power problem or a cable, in that order, and most get solved over the phone. If it cannot be fixed remotely we will arrange a replacement. Sitting on a problem for four days of a ten day trip is the worst outcome and it is avoidable.
The equipment stays ours. It is a hire, not a rent-to-own, and there is an $800 fee if a kit is lost or damaged beyond use, which covers replacement plus the bookings we cannot fill while we wait for a new one. Small damage caught early is almost always cheaper than the same damage reported at the end.
If you want to know what normal performance looks like so you can tell the difference between a fault and a busy cell, our Starlink speeds in Perth and WA notes have the measured numbers.
5. Return and get the bond back
Bring the kit back to Cloverdale at the end of the booked period. It gets checked, and the $300 bond is returned in full when it comes back in working order. In practice that means everything is in the case and nothing has been driven over or left in the rain with a cable open.
Two rules that catch people out, so they are worth stating plainly:
- Early returns are not pro-rated. If you book fourteen days and come back on day nine, you are charged for fourteen. Book the dates you actually need rather than padding them.
- Late returns are $50 per extra day. If you know you are running behind, ring before the return date and we will look at an extension. The fee exists because a late kit is a booking someone else loses, not because we enjoy charging it.
The short version
| Stage | What happens | What you pay |
|---|---|---|
| Enquire | Send dates and route, quote back within the hour | Nothing |
| Book | Dates locked | 10% deposit |
| Pickup | Cloverdale handover, inspect and set up | Balance plus $300 bond |
| During | Unlimited use, ring us if anything goes wrong | Nothing |
| Return | Checked at Cloverdale | Bond back in full |
If your dates are set, book a Starlink Mini hire in Perth and tell us where you are heading.
